A Book for Parents
If you are reading this page then it is safe to assume that you are already experiencing some sort of problems in relating to your young person. After writing my first book I was asked by parents to write a more in-depth handbook covering more teen life topics
This book now shares my learned skills, my techniques and my ways in relating to young people with a straight and no nonsense approach which has benefited me in my different roles in life of being an Adult, a father, and a parent/step parent, a Counsellor, a Mentor and a Mediator.
It has worked both with my own children (who are now adults with children themselves), with friend's children and other young people who have been through my Troubled Teen Therapy Programme at Teenbratcampuk.
As we know, children do not come with an instruction manual which can be used to refer to from time to time and at times of challenging behaviour from the young person.
After identifying a lack of help and support in the UK for parents with troubled teens. I had to think outside the box and adapted the techniques of the standard counselling protocol to develop a more flexible and creative approach, being as flexible as is necessary for each young person.
Regardless of the challenges, I have been able to use my techniques to successfully work with a range of difficulties and issues with young people. My goal is to help families to find solutions to the struggles they face at home with their troubled teen.
I have over 19 years experience of working with hard to engage teenagers as both a Counsellor/Behavioural Therapist and as a Mediator. I believe that my own life experiences are just as important as my professional and academic training in relating to young people. I am Dyslexic and left school at 15 without any qualifications.
I am a counsellor/psychotherapist and have my own private practice. I am an Integrative Practitioner which means that I blend different methods of counselling according to the individual young persons needs and I have many years of experience working with young people and adults.
